Ted McCoy
Ted McCoy was Born on Pearl Harbor Day ( not the same year of course!) Although this event did not trigger the United States entry in to a world war it did make his mum and dad very happy and start a life that would forever be fascinated by diving, shipwrecks and the sea.
Ted was certified NAUI junior open water at age 13, started dive mastering at 18 in the Caribbean and earned instructor rating at 20. By age 25 he had dived the Andrea Doria numerous times and was a full Cave Diver. When he wasn’t doing the type of diving he loved he was doing the type of diving that pays, spending 7 years as a commercial diver. He has worked as a yacht skipper in the Caribbean and has been manager of a well renowned dive operation in Saba.
Ted has amassed 5450 dives worldwide (really he has, 6 dive per day in the Caribbean for a few years will do it) He is about as comfortable in the water as anyone can get. He is a well known face on the NE USA wreck diving scene , he is an excellent patient instructor and his students love him. He has a wealth of experience with rebreathers having owned and dived Mk15.5, Megalodon, Inspiration, Kiss, Lar V and Optima units.
Apart from the teaching guiding and photographer for Blue Foot Diving Ted owns his own company Ghost Ship Explorers. Ghost Ship Explorers specializes in wreck and cave guiding, underwater photographic instruction and producing some wonderful photographs that can be found on this site and at his website www.ghostshipexplorers.net
